Very much taken for granted, abused and neglected. Re-directed for intensive agriculture, potable and power, without consideration of the resource itself and the sustainability of such. Climate change is changing the landscape, quite literally and as such pressures on this finite resource are mounting. Geopolitical challenges are arising over "fresh" water as are pressures on cities in arid already arid parts of the globe.
